Student Council Leads Positive Local Change

Leadership at Caloundra State High School extends far beyond the classroom, with our Student Council making a meaningful impact both within the school and throughout the local community.

Made up of passionate student leaders from across year levels, the Student Council works tirelessly to organise events, support important causes and represent the voices of their peers. Their commitment to service strengthens our school culture while making a real difference in the community.

Throughout the year, students lead a range of fundraising initiatives, including the annual World’s Greatest Shave in support of Bloomhill Cancer Care. They also coordinate the school’s Salvation Army Food Drive, encouraging students and families to donate essential items for local people experiencing hardship.

The Student Council plays an important role in improving life at school. One of its current fundraising goals is to install additional chilled water stations across the school. Members are also heavily involved in school events, running barbecues at sporting carnivals and supporting our annual school formals.
As the voice of the student body, council members provide feedback on school initiatives and advocate for ideas that improve the student experience. Their leadership extends beyond the school gates, with students participating in political youth roundtable discussions and representing the perspectives of young people.

Students have also contributed to the headspace Caloundra Youth Advisory Council, sharing their perspectives and advocating for greater awareness and support for youth mental health in the local community.

Council members continue to develop their leadership skills through public speaking and community engagement. They regularly address students at whole-school parades and have proudly represented Caloundra State High School in the Lions Youth of the Year competition, building confidence and communication skills along the way.

Caloundra State High School is incredibly proud of the contribution our Student Council makes. Through fundraising, volunteering and advocacy, these students are helping to build a stronger school and community.
