With the launch of her latest venture, The Joy Social Co., luxe event stylist Roberta Wurth shares her creative process for turning ordinary spaces into beautifully styled celebrations.
When handed an empty room and invited to “Work your magic,” what comes next?
First, I imagine how I want people to feel the moment they walk in. Before I think about flowers or furniture, I picture the experience – where guests will pause, converse or connect. Then I build the room around that feeling, creating beautiful focal points and layers that encourage conversation and opportunity for photos.
How do you take a client’s personality and turn it into something that’s uniquely theirs?
I spend time understanding my client’s personality, their style and the story they want their event to tell. Every design is customised to reflect them – their colours, their brand, their celebration and their guests.
What does “joy” look like to you when you’re styling an event?
To me, joy is seeing genuine smiles, hearing people say “Wow,” and watching guests naturally gravitate towards the spaces we’ve created. It’s the excitement of people taking photos, celebrating together and enjoying the space.
