Salty Fishing Charters is dropping anchor with a new specialty fishing store at Pelican Waters Marina.
From 1 July 2026, the shop will offer bait, ice and a range of fishing essentials, along with specialised tackle for float lining – a popular offshore technique used to target quality snapper.
Float lining uses a small sinker and natural current movement to present bait higher in the water column, where larger fish are often found.
The shop will initially operate from Friday to Sunday, 7am to 3pm, and will also serve as a booking hub for Salty’s fishing charters and Bar Crossing Course.
Charters are conducted aboard Salty’s custom-built 11-metre plate aluminium fishing vessel, which accommodates up to 12 passengers. Featuring a full walk-around cabin, onboard toilet, comfortable seating and 650 horsepower, the boat has been purpose-built for serious offshore fishing.
The Bar Crossing Course consists of two modules. The first is a theory session conducted aboard the Salty vessel, while the second provides hands-on experience, with participants navigating their own boats under the guidance of Salty instructors.
Several new initiatives are also planned, including a monthly sausage sizzle barbecue launching in late July, giving locals the opportunity to meet the team and share fishing stories.
Pelican Waters residents with pontoons can also look forward to a unique fresh prawn delivery service by canal.
