Caloundra’s Power Boat Club has become one of Australia’s most celebrated places to say ‘I do’— Alana Hall discovers the story behind its dream team.
The Caloundra Power Boat Club has long been a popular venue for those celebrating love—whether with family, friends, or as a couple marking a special milestone. Perched right on the shoreline of the scenic Pumicestone Passage, this beloved venue offers sweeping views and a natural beauty that draws people back time and again. With its picturesque setting, friendly atmosphere, and stress-free planning, it’s no wonder the Club has become a Sunshine Coast favourite for unforgettable weddings and special events.
For Priscilla Wilcox and Shane Anderson, the Club is more than just a place of work—it’s the setting of their own love story.
Priscilla, the venue’s accomplished functions coordinator, had been working at the Club for several years before Shane, now venue manager, joined the team. Their professional partnership blossomed into friendship, and during the quiet of the COVID-19 lockdowns, that friendship deepened into love. In November 2023, the couple were married—at none other than the very place that brought them together.
“We got married on the beach that used to be just down there,” Shane smiles, gesturing toward the water’s edge. Priscilla adds, “We had all our wedding photos here too. With the palm trees, the sunset, and the water behind you, it feels like you could be anywhere in the world.”
With a background in hospitality, Priscilla says she fell in love with the area and the venue the moment she stepped on site. “I was working in restaurant management when an opportunity arose to do more with events. When I saw this place—right on the water—I felt it was something special.”
Over the past eight years, she’s helped shape the Club into one of the region’s most sought-after wedding destinations. The team’s dedication has been recognised by the Wedding Industry Australia Award (formerly the Bride’s Choice Award) for Wedding Venue – Licenced Club each year from 2018, winning 8 times in total!
The Club has also won the Wedding Venue – Wedding Coordinator Award the past three years on the Sunshine Coast with Priscilla leading the team, a testament to her care and connection with every couple. “The local awards mean a lot because they’re voted on by the brides,” Shane says. “It’s a great feeling to know you’ve made their day as perfect as they imagined.”
In addition, the team won its fourth Australian Wedding Award for Wedding Venue – Licenced Club in February and Priscilla finished top 5 in Australia for Wedding Venue – Wedding Coordinator.
So, what makes the Club such a standout venue? “People always say it’s just easy,” Priscilla explains. “From their first enquiry, we sit down, have a chat, and they walk away with a clear vision, transparent costings, and peace of mind. There are no hidden fees. We’ve got wet-weather plans, loads of parking, and your guests can enjoy the view upstairs while you’re off having photos—it’s all right here.”
The venue boasts three function rooms, fair pricing with no weekend surcharges, and a $100 deposit to make weddings more accessible. Priscilla and Shane also pride themselves on supporting local suppliers and keeping things flexible.
Whether it’s a lavish floral affair or a relaxed cocktail reception, every event is tailored with care. “Cocktail weddings are my favourite,” says Priscilla. “They’re more like a big celebration—no seating plans, just mingling and dancing. It takes the pressure off and keeps the energy fun.”
Downstairs, the Club’s restaurant serves fresh local fare, great coffee, and relaxed waterfront vibes—often a surprise to members is the magic happening just above.
For Priscilla and Shane, the Caloundra Power Boat Club isn’t just a workplace—it’s where their love story began, and where many others continue to unfold.
