Vocational Excellence Awards Night

The Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific’s annual Vocational Excellence Awards, at Caloundra Golf Club in May, celebrated four local people who consistently go above and beyond in their work and service to others.

The awards recognise employees and volunteers whose commitment, attitude and willingness to help others make a genuine difference in their workplaces and the wider community.

Bryan Elivira – Best Practice Eyecare

A valued long-term member of the Best Practice Eyecare team, Bryan was recognised for his kindness and commitment to helping others. Employer Dr Michael Karper praised his caring nature and integrity, noting that positive feedback from patients is received almost daily.

Toni Bonney – Meals on Wheels

Toni‘s work helps ensure more than 400 meals are delivered each day across the Caloundra region. Starting early and often finishing late, she coordinates volunteer drivers and kitchen staff while maintaining the high standard of a service that many local residents rely upon.

Caity O‘Keefe – RYDA Program Support

As the key contact for Rotary‘s RYDA road safety program at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club, Caity has become the person Rotary members know they can count on. Her calm approach and ability to solve problems behind the scenes have helped the program run smoothly year after year.

Izzii Whetton – Top of the Coast Salon

Izzii was recognised for the warmth and positivity she brings to her role each day. Employer Amanda Leavy described her as a special member of the team whose friendly nature helps create a welcoming experience for clients and colleagues alike.

The evening also provided an opportunity to reflect on the work of The Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific and the many ways its members support the community. Local initiatives such as RYDA driver awareness training, DV Safe Phones, Clean Up Australia Day and support for organisations including Steps Pathways, CareFlight and Angel Flight sit alongside international projects that help improve lives around the world.

Meeting weekly for fellowship, friendship and service, Rotary members share a common vision of people coming together to create positive and lasting change in their communities and beyond. Central to Rotary‘s philosophy is the Four-Way Test, an ethical guide that encourages members to ask: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The Vocational Excellence Awards are a reminder that community spirit is often found in everyday actions, and that some of the people making the biggest difference are those who simply turn up each day and give their best.
