Caloundra’s own sons of punk, Thank U Please, are set to bring their high-energy sound to the CBD when Bulcock Street Music Festival finally lands on Saturday 6 September. We caught up with them ahead of the show to talk inspiration, theatrics and what it means to go loud where it all began.
What’s your connection to Caloundra?
We all grew up in this sleepy town—getting dumped at Shelly’s, bombing hills barefoot till the road chewed us up, peeling sunburns like lizards, bleeding at the old rough Dicky Beach skatepark. Our days were filled with Fish Bowl chips at Moffats, and getting chased off farmland for foraging fungi.
What’s the core message of the band?
Thank U Please channels raw punk energy into exposing the absurdities of ego, politics, and societal structures—tearing down walls to reveal the chaos underneath, all packaged in a melodic and digestible sound.
What fuels your songs and stage antics?
We draw inspiration from our heroes, from each other, and from the chaos around us. On stage, we’re full throttle—all sweat, energy, and chaos. Sometimes it feels like anything could happen. No gimmicks, just raw conviction, and the kind of wild energy that leaves nothing behind once we walk off.
Why should punters get up close and personal at your festival set?
If you don’t mind a mosh, get right up front, but maybe bring some protective gear. That’s where you’ll feel the full force of Thank U Please. It’s loud, chaotic, and definitely not for the faint-hearted… consider this your warning.
Catch Thank U Please when they unleash their high-energy sound at the long-awaited Bulcock Street Music Festival, Saturday 6 September at Felicity Park, Caloundra.
