50 Years of Creativity & Community
Caloundra Arts Centre Association’s story begins in the mid-1970s. After the original Caloundra Arts Festival folded, a small, determined group of seven or eight artists refused to let the creative flame die. With a shared vision and tireless fundraising, they transformed a state-owned marshland site into the first humble facilities.
Val Ross: Joy in Synchronicity
Val Ross’ paintings form a vibrant visual diary of a life marked by travel and curiosity. But her story reaches beyond the landscapes she captures, embracing community activism, education, and a philosophy of interconnectedness.
The Modern Midden
The Modern Midden is based on Zartisha Davis’ artworks of Shell Midden sites along the Kabi Kabi Coast – ancient remnants of shells left by Ancestors that represent community, hunting and gathering practices, caring for Country and stewardship.
SJ Art
In a light-drenched studio in Maroochydore, large canvases come alive, layer by layer, movement by movement. This is the domain of SJ—the artist behind SJ Art—where each art piece is crafted to
shift energy and evoke feeling.
