For children at CCPS Little Learners, early learning extends well beyond the classroom, with opportunities to explore the wider Caloundra City Private School campus and connect with the community around them.
Located within the school grounds at Pelican Waters, the Early Learning Centre gives its youngest learners access to facilities and experiences not typically found in a standalone early learning setting.
Children regularly explore the wider campus, riding their bikes along safe pathways, visiting the school library to foster an early love of books, and joining older students at assemblies in the main hall, where their achievements are recognised and celebrated.
This connection gives children room to explore while building confidence and a sense of belonging within the school community.
Learning also heads outdoors through Little Learners’ Bush Kindy classroom, where children connect with nature through hands-on exploration and play. The outdoor setting encourages curiosity, independence and problem-solving while giving children the freedom to learn through their surroundings.
Community connection is another part of the program. Children regularly visit a local aged care community, creating opportunities to spend time with older residents and experience relationships across generations.
These experiences complement the centre’s specialised School Readiness program and its pathway through to Prep at Caloundra City Private School.
By becoming familiar with the campus, school facilities and wider community from an early age, children can approach the move into primary school with greater confidence.
Little Learners is also extending this opportunity to more local families, with a new pick-up bus service from Aura making the Pelican Waters centre more accessible to those living in the growing community.
Together, these experiences create an early learning environment that reaches beyond the centre itself, giving children opportunities to explore nature, connect with different generations and become part of school life well before their first day of Prep.
