Caloundra Update with Cr. Terry Landsberg

There’s been plenty happening across Caloundra in recent months, with a number of important projects progressing and some great achievements for our community.

Construction of the new Kings Beach Surf Life Saving facility continues to move ahead and it’s exciting to see this much-needed project taking shape. The new facility will provide improved amenities for our hardworking volunteers and help support surf lifesaving services well into the future.

I was also pleased to see a strong turnout at the recent Uncover Caloundra event. It was a great opportunity for locals to hear about the growth planned for our region, upcoming infrastructure projects and what the future holds for Caloundra. Community involvement is so important as we continue to plan for growth while protecting the lifestyle that makes our area special.

Work is also continuing on the Caloundra Town Square, another significant project that recognises the importance of activating the heart of our central business district. The Town Square will create a vibrant community space in the centre of Caloundra, supporting local businesses, encouraging activity and helping to strengthen our city centre as a place where people can gather, connect and enjoy everything Caloundra has to offer.

Down at Moffat Beach, work on the seawall project is progressing well and we’re looking forward to having the area returned to the community in time for the September school holidays. It will be fantastic to see residents and visitors enjoying this beautiful part of our coastline once again.

Another piece of good news is the international recognition received by Caloundra Library+, which has been shortlisted as one of only four libraries worldwide in the prestigious International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) Library of the Year Award. The winner will be announced later this month and we’ll all be keeping our fingers crossed for a great result.

On a personal note, I’m honoured to have been appointed to the board of the newly formed Sunshine Coast Waterways Authority. Our waterways are one of our region’s greatest assets, and I look forward to contributing to the Authority’s work to help protect, manage, and enhance these important areas for future generations.

It’s great to see so many positive developments happening across Caloundra. From major infrastructure projects through to international recognition for local facilities, we have plenty to be proud of and even more to look forward to as our community continues to grow.
