Bulcock Street’s Bright Future

From the rooftop pool of Pumicestone Blue Resort, Debbie and I enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Caloundra’s beating heart – Bulcock Street. As resident managers, we oversee both the holiday-letting business and the caretaking of this landmark building, creating what we fondly call our Vertical Village: a community where owners, guests and locals all look out for one another. It’s a spirit of friendliness and connection that defines not only our building, but the wider Caloundra community.

Life at this end of Bulcock Street is vibrant and getting better every week. The much-anticipated Pholklore Vietnamese Inspired, Asian Fusion Restaurant is opening soon, bringing fragrant flavours and modern flair.

The Thirsty Beaver Bar and Grill continues to be a crowd favourite, buzzing with locals and visitors alike. Sokuri Rice Bowl and Sushi remains a standout for fresh, healthy food, and the new restaurant in the Bianco Building will add more style and sophistication to the precinct. Three Restaurant Bar & Grill never fails to impress with its creative menu and warm welcome, while pizza lovers can choose between 111 Pizza Place and Tredici Woodfired Pizza, Bar and Grill – both serving up slices of Italian perfection.

And let’s not forget the old favourites! The Chinese Holiday Restaurant has been a Caloundra icon for many years, serving generous dishes with the Birds Nest a standout, and Jow Noodles continues to smash out great takeaway tucker – quick, tasty and always satisfying.

A short stroll towards Bulcock Beach brings you to La Promenade Café for a relaxed, waterside breakfast with your favourite Eggs Benedict. The coffee scene continues to thrive too — the new Bunker Café in the Bianco building looks superb, Coffee@4551 has become a true local favourite for friendly chats and flat whites, and White Picket Fence still shines as one of Caloundra’s most loved breakfast spots.

Beyond our front door, I’m proud to serve on the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce Committee, and I’m currently seeking election to the Visit Sunshine Coast Board — both roles that let me champion local business and our region’s incredible lifestyle.

Until next time, see you on Bulcock Street – or up on the roof, where the view is always worth sharing.
