The stunning cover image of our July-August edition comes from local landscape photographer Rik Bresolin—whose photography venture Rix Pix began with a simple question: Why not?
In 2017, after years of casually snapping away on iPhones and point-and-shoots, he decided to get serious. A deep dive into gear and technique followed—and he hasn’t looked back.
His signature style? Sunrise and sunset seascapes. “Rockpools, jettys, bluffs, surf… anything coastal,” he says. His images are instantly recognisable: Moffat Beach, Kings, Noosa, Currimundi, and the Glass House Mountains. “They’re tourist photos, really—meant to capture the magic of a place people fall in love with.” With the right settings, perfect timing, and a little luck from the sky, sunrises and sunsets can deliver truly breathtaking results.
Originally from Victoria, Rik and his family moved to Caloundra via Cairns in the ’90s. “It just felt like home—only nicer, and much warmer.” He loves the distinct personality of each beach, the coastline’s accessibility, and the natural beauty that surrounds the town.
Lately, he’s ventured into wildlife photography—birds, roos, even soldier crabs—and recently shot for Moffat Beach Brewing Co. for Qantas’ inflight magazine. Next stop: a wedding shoot in Tuscany.
Find him every Saturday at Eumundi Markets and Sundays at Caloundra Street Fair (near Surf, Dive and Ski).
